Magic: The Gathering Empty
PostSubject: Magic: The Gathering   Magic: The Gathering EmptyWed 25 Apr 2012 - 12:53

It's been awhile since I posted something in my blog other than dreams or watched anime, so here's something new.

A few months ago, Tim was like 'yo, play magic with us' and I was like 'no, that shit is stupid, I don't like card games.' and he was like 'nigger, you're going to like it if you play it.' and so I was like 'that's probably true, but I don't want to blow hundreds of dollars on a new obsession. Especially one revolving around little pieces of stiff paper.'

And so that conversation died. That was completely exaggerated and hardly resembles the actual conversation, but who cares.

So a couple weeks later or something, his mom informs him that she's going to her brother's house to play magic and wanted to know if we wanted to go and play as well. Tim looked at me, naturally, expecting me to make the decision. I wasn't really wanting to go because I knew I'd be bored as bowlshit while they played. He convinced me to go and such anyway.

So we got there and he convinces me to play with them. I was skeptical, but whatever. He gives me one of his decks to play with and we do a 2 vs 2 match (also called 'Two Headed Giant' in this case). Almost immediately, I find the game fun. It's a bit confusing at first, but I get the hang of it fairly quickly.

If I'm not mistaken, I won my first match.

So over the course of the last few months, I've blown somewhere around $200 on cards, mostly hand-picked ones because I really dislike booster packs (too random for the money you pay), primarily because I've never gotten anything good from them except maybe one or two cards.

And now, there's a Standard Tournament on Friday that I plan on attending, hopefully with Bloodkiaser.

For those who know Magic terminology, my deck focuses on infect.

For those who don't know Magic terminology, both players start with 20 'health' or 'hit points'. Not going into details, but you can take damage like your creatures can. Damage can be in the form of 'infect', which becomes poison damage when done to a player. A player can take up to 10 poison damage before they automatically lose. Lost health can be regained or healed, poison damage cannot.

So long story short, infection kills faster and more effectively.

So yeah, Magic: The Gathering. It's really fun. You should try it.

I prefer the old fashioned King of Games card game, of course no one plays the original Yu-Gi-Oh anymore or those who do use the overpowered cards released in the past 4 years so why bother? I tried Magic before, didn't like it. My Step-Mother introduced me to her Nephew, the co-author of the Magic books. He tried to get me into playing, I disliked it. Haven't spoken to him since.

Your exaggeration very much sounds like an exchange between Tyler and I.

Placed about 4th out of maybe 12 people.

Won 2, lost 2.

2-0, 2-0, 0-2, 0-2

Won a pack of cards.

Nothing good came from the pack.

That was that.
