PostSubject: Watched anime list   17.07.11 2:19

I seriously can't believe I haven't posted something like this yet, but the other topic I just made made me think about it, so yeah...

Here's a list of anime series I've finished, and some comments on them:

1. Code Geass - I really liked the series, especially Lelouch <3 ...but essentially it's a giant team deathmatch with one kid who switched sides in the middle of the war and has a super power and...yeah.....I'd say it's about 9/10

2. Neon Genesis Evangelion - Waited a long ass, frusterating time to see it. It was good, I like the series, etc... They say it has deep symbolism and whatnot, which I sort of see...people say it's a really messed up show, buuuut, I've seen worse. This wasn't that messed up. Well...maybe if you're a pussy. ... probably 8/10

3. Speed Grapher - one of my favorites, but it was kind of weird with the fetish thing...ex war photographer discovers an exclusive club in which people's fetishes are served to them on a silver DICK...not literally, but it's a fetish club that caters to your whim. Oh, and there's an underaged girl that can grant powers based on your fetish via kiss. Guess what happens to the main character? Yep. ... 6/10

4. Fooly Cooly - didn't like it much...it's essentially Evangelion's mentally challenged younger sibling who wishes it was as cool as its older brother (both made by Gainax)...has something to do with a kid and an alien and a normal city...idk...funny how I've seen it probably 6 times or more and still give not a fuck ... 3/10

5. Green Green - don't remember much, thought it was ok though...not that great...girls from an all girl school are transfered to an all boys school while their school is repaired or something...perspective is from the boys and their shenanigans..... 4/10

6. Ikkitousen - show was obviously focused on fan service and panty shots. It was stupid and a waste of time...something about a dragon or something...idk...I don't remember or care really.....3/10

7. Midori Days - it was cute, and pretty legit as a romance story...a teenage guy who is feared by his peers because he's a badass can't get a girlfriend...one day, his right hand becomes a girl and the girl's original body goes into a coma while she is his right hand.....5/10

8. Elfen Lied - one of my favorites, had a good story...too bad the writer died before they finished it...girl with a form of powerful telekinesis (who is also a murderer) escapes a testing facility, loses memory, guy takes her in, she occasionally gets memory back, people sent to track her down, yada yada....6/10

9. School Days - I looooooved the drama, good show, good show....guy likes girl so guy gets help from female friend to date girl, guy succeeds, guy falls for friend, guy cheater on GF with his friend, guy does every girl in the school while the GF remains in innocent denial...freaking epic...... 7/10

- Re-watched School Days. Since it's fresh in my memory, I can do a more accurate review. Compared to what I've seen more recently, they show is actually just a little boring for the first nine episodes (12 long), then the rest of it goes downhill, very fast (in a good way). To be honest, it wasn't quite as good as I had remembered, but it was still good around the end. So yeah, I reccomend watching it if you like drama. I would write more, but I pretty much said most of it in the initial review. Makoto, the main character, is interested in a girl, a friend helps him get with her, he goes for the friend instead. Yeah. New rating........ 5.5/10
Makoto:

10. Shuffle! - Also a really good show. It's kind of like School Days, very loosely though...can't remember much, but it's basically about a guy who the king of the demons and the king of the gods deem to be worthy of their daughters to marry. He has to choose one of them. The series is about who he chooses. Also, his friend and other people are options as well...it's a pretty light hearted show...UNTIL THE END, MY GOD, IT'S LIKE DRAMA AND DEPRESSION CENTRAL... 6.5/10

- Re-watched Shuffle!. Harem highschool comedy featuring occasional magic and panty shots/occasional nudity. Pretty good. They have just about everything in it, as far as genres go...minus horror I think...nontheless, it's a good show, and I personally enjoye re-watching it, as I came to parts I hadn't remembered before. It's mainly a romance comedy, but like I said in the original review, it gets a bit dramatic and possibly depressing at the end. It took me awhile to determine the rating of it, after having seen it again, not being entirely sure what to rate it at, but I feel that the original rating was good. Main character, Rin, is a normal highschool aged guy who lives with a childhood friend (Kaede) who takes care of him as they live their lives and attend school together. One day, the King of Gods, and the King of Devils (who are either friends or brothers, never really explained that part fully) come to his class and introduce their daughters. They want him to choose one to marry, because, due to some events that happened in Rin's childhood, they have dubbed him as the best candidate. The series is, of course, is about who he chooses. Other than them, however, he also has his childhood friend to consider, as well as another friend of his (Asa). It should perhaps be noted that the gods and devils are not good/evil, but rather just alternate beings from other dimensions, differing in appearence only by the shape of the ears. The gods and demons have also integrated into human life, and walk freely around in the human world, as if they were normal humans themselves. Gods and Devils can use magic, but it is not in fact very powerful, save for the kings and their daughters. Also, I may point out that the Gods and Devils do not rule over the humans in any way, nor do they rule over each other, they are simply more powerful beings that exist alongside humans. And of course, Rin is in fact a nice guy who tries to do well and please people the best he can ......6.5/10
Main Cast (female):

King of Gods and King of Demons:

11. Golden Boy - I think this has to be my favorite comedy show....ever...it's just so good, but so perverted....the plot is simple; guy has no job, guy looks for job, guy wants to learn, guy writes what he learns at the jobs, jobs only last one episode each. You do the math. ... 6.5/10

- Re-watched Golden Boy. Kintaro Oe, a 25 year old man, travels from part time job to part time job on his trusty bicycle. Kintaro loves to study and learn new things. He is also especially fond of women. The series consists of six episodes, each with a different job and a different problem that Kintaro solves. Along the way, he gets into trouble and meets new girls. Kintaro's perversion gets him into trouble on multiple occasions, but his heart of gold and innocent nature outshine his lewd ways. The show is indeed funny, and even heart warming in a sense, though it does contain a decent portion of erotic themes and occasional nudity. Kintaro is always in high spirits, and stops at nothing to achieve his goals. The show is a good watch, and I reccomend watching it. ...... 6.5/10
Kintaro:

12. Welcome to the NHK - liked it, it was decently amusing and just an overall good show...NEET guy and friend try to create a Gal game. Some shit happens. Other shit happens. It's a good show about being a NEET and about a conspiracy.... 6/10

13. Witchblade - kind of like Speed Grapher as far as how I feel about it...simple-ish to explain plot; girl and daughter go to new city after home destroyed, girl gets power of witchblade, witchblade turns you into an erotic killing machine, she defeats weaker male equivelants, shit goes down, done. ... 6/10

14. Gurren Lagann - thought it was good, really whacky show....boy lives underground entire life, boy leaves and discovers surface (yes, DISCOVERS, as in, he sees it for the first time), boy and friends get giant mecha, shit goes down between them and other mecha, and so on.... 6/10

15. Xam'd - pretty good show, I must say, but I feel like there should have been more...especially at the end...boy gets thing in his arm after terrorist attack, turns into monster, kidnapped by a mail service, he is taught how to use it, etc.... 6.5/10

16. Utawarerumono - throroughly raped my mind until the last episode. You cannot fathom what I mean until you see this show....but don't be fooled by the first few episodes, you have to see all of it, and pay attention to the story. Trust me, you will feel violated. Buuuut, I did like the show.....no, I'm not explaining it. Guy with mask that can't be removed suddenly appears in a village of wolf-tailed and eared people. That's all you get. .... 5/10

17. Death Note - yep, I've seen it. I liked it, but I don't like the fanbase or stereoype that goes with liking it..... 6/10

18. Ore no Imouto - you know...the series was good, but the ending left alot to be desired...as I described it to a friend (metaphorically): In the beginning, all of the main characters are in a room. The room is dull grey. There are several doors in the room. All throughout the series, they walk near the doors, and even lean on them, but none of them ever go through the doors. Then, in the end, the main character puts his hand on a door knob, but then decides not to enter, going back to wandering the room. Yeah, the plot is seriously like that, metaphorically speaking....basically, guy finds out that his younger sister plays Eroges. He helps her hide it. She teaches him about it. Etc, it's about brother-sister bonding..... 5.5/10

19. Nyan Koi - It was a good, wholesome show. A nice turn away from the heavy drama I usually like in anime. The ending was satisfactory, but it doesn't solve the #1 question of the series (which girl does he choose)....guy who is allergic to cats is cursed by the cat god because he accidentally fucked up a cat shrine...he has to do 100 favors for cats (which he can now talk to, by the way) or he will turn into a cat...... 5.5/10

20. Gantz - Damn. This show was messed up, but I liked it for that. Very gritty and just shows the bad in people well. The ending was nice, but it also kind of feels like Ore no Imouto, in the sense that nothing was actually accomplished......guy and friend die, sent to room with other people, given weapons and suits, told to kill aliens, they do so, shit goes down..... 6/10

21. Bakemonogatari - It was uhhhh...it was ok. I don't have any complaints about it, but it was just a liiiittle...uh...uninteresting. Like, I liked it and all, and I wasn't going to go without finishing it...it was just slightly dull. If anything, I wish they had shown more of the cute little vampire girl (Shinobu)...as she ended up playing a significant role at the end of the series.......plus she was cute. Lol.....guy helps people with ghost/monster problems sort of and falls in love with a bitch along the way......5.5/10

22. MM! - For a show about a masochistic guy being mistreated by girls all the time, I was quite surprised that the show was indeed NOT an ecchi. It was actually a pretty good, good-overall anime detailing growing friendship and the overcoming of those psychotic people around you. You'd think I'd turn this into a joke, or to say "lol jk, it was hentai", but no, it really was pretty legit. It was pretty typical in the sense that it was a love triangle and the MC (main character) is blind to the affection. All in all, I really liked the ending, and -surprise-, coincidentally, ironically, however you want to put it, the ending scene features the show's ONLY panty shot, lol, that I recall. Twas good overall. ............ 6/10

23. Usagi Drop - I began watching this anime expecting that it would be mediocre and unsavory, but I was proven entirely wrong. I was quite literally swept away by this show. I almost can't believe that I enjoyed it as much as I did. It is, quite simply, a show about raising a kid...in this case, a 30 year old grandson raising his recently deceased grandfather's illegitimate daughter, Rin. Normally, I'm into blood and gore, intense violence, and gut-wrenching drama, but THIS show won me over with its touching and heartwarming story. Truly, one of my favorite animes, it is, unfortunately, only 11 episodes long with 4 specials. ........... 8/10

24. Durarara!! - I finished this awhile back, but forgot to write this down. I can safely say that this show is unlike any other anime I've ever seen. The plot is interesting and realistic, all the while sporting dashes of even more interesting, unrealistic things. There really isn't an easy way to sum this story up, mostly due to the fact that there is no main character. That's right, there is no main character. Instead, the people who wrote this show decided to focus the story around the city, ikebukuro, and about 10 characters within it (5 or so of them a little moreso). To put it as simply as possible, a kid comes to the city to start a new life, when he is met by his old friend. The story developes from there, revealing that both of them are actually leaders of rival gangs (without knowing it), all the while trying to fix the problems of the city. Meanwhile, we have a Dullahan, a headless horseman/grim reaper type that rides throughout the city, delivering packages and such on her jet black motorcycle (which is actually a supernatural horse) trying to find her head all the while, a guy who cannot control his strength (or temper for that matter) who is a bartender, AND a lifelong enemy of a man who sells information (to the gangs mostly) for a living who also has amazing skills with a flip blade, WHO ALSO, simply loves humans. All humans. The last guy mentioned is my avatar. And of course we also have the Russian sushi guy, the anime nerds, and the man deeply obsessed with the Dullahan's head. I loved this show, EVERY episode had an epic moment, and most series only have one or two. ............ 8/10

25. Trigun - I had been sort of avoiding this show for quite awhile. Not sure why really, but I think it was mostly because of the fanbase. "OMG, VASH THE STAMPEDE~<3", "OMG TRIGUN~<3".......and now I see why they felt that way. I finally decided to give it a try, because I wanted to see what the fuss was about. To be honest, the show made me sad. Why did it make me sad? Because it ended. I enjoyed every minute of it, soon falling in love with Vash just like all those other fangirls did. I loved his character so much that I went as him to the 2012 anime convention, and that's saying something, for ME, TS, to dress up as an anime character. Summery? Sci-fi western about a tall, blonde, happy-go-lucky ace gunslinger in a red trenchcoat. That's not all of course, but I don't want to ruin it for you. Oh, and did I mention that this ace gunslinger has a 60 billion dollar bounty on his head, is notorious for causing destruction for every city he goes to, and all the while is being followed by a pair of girls from the insurance company? No. No I didn't. .............. 8/10

26. Amagami SS - I keep adding these things out of order. Regardless. I finished this show awhile back and thought it was decent. Basically, it's an anime version of a dating simulator. The plot is, put simply, as follows: It's almost time for christmas, the anniversery of the time that the main character was stood up at a park by a girl he was in love with. Throughout the anime, the main character gradually builds a relationship with a girl, and eventually they go out on a date on christmas eve and become lovers from there on. The story follows about 6 arcs, where this scenario will happen about 6 times, with 6 different girls within the anime. Every few episodes, another girl is introduced, and the story resets to just before christmas. The girls range from a popular girl who isn't interested in relationships, a "chubby" childhood friend, a shy "moe" girl, a crazy student body president, a gymnist type, etc...with a few OVA episodes where he- instead of going out with them -ends up befriending all of them as he did in their own arcs, but instead goes out with a girl that he later learns sabatoged all of the dates with the other girls to make it not work, AND an OVA where the same happens, except the girl never sabatoged them, and it is simply an episode highlighting the relationship between he and his sister. It was a good watch. .................. 6/10

27. To Aru Kagaku no Railgun - Like a few anime series I've seen, this one drew me in with its opening song, which is quite good by the way. Essentially, the anime is about a group of highschool friends, a few of which are what the series calls 'Espers', aka, people with super powers, of whom are ranked by their level of power...most are level 1-3. The somewhat main character's power is one of the strongest in the city/world, being the highest ever recorded level. She is a level 5 electrokinetic. Because of this, she has been dubbed the Academy City's Railgun. Academy city is the location the anime takes place, being an entire city dedicated to teaching Espers how to use their powers (and is essentially littered with schools). Nonetheless. It was a little irritating/unfortunate for me when I learned that this was actually a spinoff of another series. BUT, whatever it may be, it is a really good show that I enjoyed watching. Good balance of humor and seriousness with a pretty dark somewhat main story line. I'd recommend it to pretty much anyone. ............. 7/10

28. Deadman Wonderland - I had actually tried watching the series some time ago, but I stopped halfway through the first episode for whatever reason. But, I decided to watch the entire thing after seeing a couple of episodes from the middle of the series. It's actually a really good show. The only thing I dislike is the constant censoring of words and scenes. Well. I don't know if the scenes are censored or what, but they occasionally have rediculously dark rooms. I mean, you can't see ANYTHING in those scenes, minus the top of someone's head or something. Other than that, the series is excellent. However...I don't advise you get too into it if you happen to watch it, because, just like Elfen Lied, it stops in the middle of the series. That's right. It ends before it's supposed to. For different reasons this time (budget), but yeah...not really an ending... Either way, it's still really good, and the opening grew on me ............. 7.5/10

29. Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai - I had seen a couple of the characters around the internet, namely Sena, and was somewhat interested, but didn't pursue it, until now. It's about a guy who joins a club centered around making friends. Well, he was forced to join it by the only person in it, but yes. It progresses from there with a few other people joining, and their day to day activities. It was a good series, only 12 episodes long, 13 if you count the weird and mostly pointless OVA, aka episode 0. I would recommend this show. Uhhh... for some reason I can't find much to say about it. I mean. It was good and whatnot, with a solid plot, decent ending, but nothing really sticks out for me to point out. I guess I'll end it here with a "the show was good, you should watch it if you find the time", and uh... Sena is the cutest anime girl I've ever fucking seen. Now I am done. .......... 7/10 ....what's this?! Something new?! This review will have the first reference picture, something that I will be including in reviews from now on!
Sena Kashiwazaki:

30. KissXsis - Tried watching this like a year ago, saw like one episode, lost interest. Well, I didn't lose interest, I just didn't hold enough interest to continue watching it, as I was too lazy to go to the effort of continuing. Which generally translates to it not being good enough. Anyway. I decided to finish it after seeing a certain scene that piqued my interest (chocolate lipstick scene). Show is basically about a guy and his two slightly older sisters. They are step siblings, but grew up together. They were/are very close. The girls have fallen madly in love with him, but while he does love them a lot back, he rejects THAT kind of love, because it is forbidden/looked down upon. The show is essentially a slightly erotic romance about their relationship and how it grows. Show is 12 episodes long, and doesn't have a firm plot line, other than Keita (the brother, main character) getting into the same school as his sisters and his efforts in doing such. I rather liked some of the 'romantic' parts, but overall, the show is a little meh. ........ 5/10 also, I vote for Riko-chan (left)
Keita, Riko, and Ako:

31. Nunnally in Wonderland (Code Geass OVA episode) - Alright, so this one isn't officially a series or a movie, it's just an OVA. But, I felt that it deserved a review nonetheless since it was a -more or less- stand alone feature. This OVA is essentially about Lelouch and Nunnally sitting under a tree, while Lelouch tells her a story. The story, of course, is none other than "Alice in Wonderland", but with a few differences in it. Alice is replaced by Nunnally, and Lelouch is the narrator. The animation style is unique, in that it is not quite animated, yet not quite comprised of still images. It uses a constant variety of both, having most scenes where it is a still image that changes a little, with little fragments of tv-series style animation here and there. I personally think they did a good job of choosing which characters to represent which (such as having C.C. be the Cheshire Cat). I think they pretty much nailed it as an extra/OVA, and it definitely delivers. ....... 8/10
C.C. the Cheshire Cat:

32. 11eyes - Not exactly what I was expecting, but it was good. Must say, several details took me by surprise, to some degree anyway. But they were good surprises, and I liked them. kakeru, the main character, is sucked into another dimension one day along with a girl who is a childhood friend of his. This alternate dimension looks the same as the normal one, except it's night time, with a red tint to everything, and there are no living things (other than trees) there. Oh, right, and they're being hunted by these monstrous creatures that are...uh....meh, they're just weird. They're also slow. But eventually they meet up with others trapped in this dimension and they fight these things. They learn, also, that they're being hunted by these individuals in black armor, calling themselves the black knights. The main characters phase in and out of this alternate dimension seemingly randomly, about once per day. All the while, they appear (the black knights) to be holding a young girl prisoner in a giant crystal. Saying much more would reveal too much of the plot, but yeah. It was good. Even though he hardly ever makes an appearence, one of my favorite characters was Velad. He was just one of those people that makes you go 'oh yeah, he's cool.'...... oh, right, and Yuka becomes an ANNOYING PSYCHOPATHIC BITCH. Seriously. .......... 6.5/10
Velad:

33. Black Rock Shooter - This is one of those anime that I had only seen briefly in a music video, once, and have found it in no other place, ever. That is, until I found a song on youtube that was supposedly from this show's game (the title of the video was "Greatest Battle Music Of All Times: Emiya (Guitar Version)") which piqued my interest to a degree, as it featured this elusive anime. From what I saw, I figured it would be just a shoot em up style anime taking place in some weird world. So, I hit play once I got to watching it for the first time, and was right. But then a school setting was introduced, and I was left very curious and confused, for the actual anime was nothing how I thought it would be. It went so much deeper, and was incredibly emotional/depressing and fucked up through a lot of it, leaving the strange world and semi 3d animation combat to be something completely unexpected, having a rather deep reason behind it. I can't say any more without ruining the entire series, since it's only 8 episodes long. But I have to say, it was a rather great show. The series is actually based off of an original animation (also dubbed the OVA) which is a 50 minute stand alone episode/movie that is basically just a different version of the same plot. I watched the original animation after the series, and was honestly not impressed. Had I watched one and not the other, I would have liked it, but after watching the series, the original seemed incredibly lackluster and rushed. I honestly suggest skipping the original and just watching the series, unless you really want to just see some extra action. If you DO watch the original, please, make sure you watch it after the series. Because frankly it'd probably ruin the series for you, as the series is much deeper and has more...well...emotion and depth than the original. I suggest seeing the series, it's quite good, albeit confusing most of the time. Don't worry though, they explain most if not all of it. You just have to pay attention. Oh, right, guess I better point out that Mato Kuroi is the main character, and Black Rock Shooter is the name of the main character in the other world. ........ 7/10
Black Rock Shooter:

34. Toradora - Story about a highschool guy and girl who live next to each other, and are each in love with someone at their school. They help each other try to ask the person they like out, and become closer as friends throughout the series. Stuff happens, bumps on the road, decent amount of drama and touching moments. Second main character, Aisaka Taiga, is known as the "Palmtop Tiger" due to her name (Taiga) and the fact that she is small, with an attitude. Main character, Ryuuji Takasu, is kind of an OCD individual when it comes to cleaning, he also enjoys to cook, and is viewed as a scary individual due to his eyes (apparently inherited from his run-away father). So yeah. Taiga and Ryuuji hang out and get closer, Ryuuji has a mentally challenged bird (talking one, not sure what species, not literally mentally challenged, but it seemed like it) that provides a little comedy input occasionally. I enjoyed the series, and I liked how it ended up in the end. The ending (or, the process of ending, the falling action of the series) could have been a little less.......idk. Can't explain it without ruining the entire series. I suggest watching it, it was rather good. Also, Minorin is a scatterbrain. ......... 7/10
Main Cast:

And another one of Ryuuji and Taiga:

35. To Aru Majutsu no Index - Turns out I had accidentally watched the spin-off before the original show, so naturally I had to watch this after seeing To Aru Kagaku no Railgun. Oddly enough, this series, despite being the original plot, and being twice as long as Railgun, seemed a little...how do I put it...idk. Railgun seemed more solid, compared to this. Don't get me wrong, this one was just as good as Railgun, but Railgun just seemed a little more solid and whatnot, whereas this one seemed to have more random "oh, the fans would like it if we included this" parts. Nonetheless. Touma, a highschool boy living in a city full of supernatural-ability developing students, has no powers. The only thing that may be called a power, that he possesses, is severe misfortune. This misfortune is so severe, that it even manifests in the form of a nullifier of sorts, concentrated in his right hand. Any magic or supernatural thing he touches, is instantly nullified. His life takes a turn for the even stranger side, when a Sister from another country is found hanging on his veranda's guard rail just outside his bedroom window. She introduces herself as "Index", an individual who holds an incredible amount of information about powerful magic in her limitless, perfect memory. Story developes from there. It has several odd turns and interesting characters, and is overall a good watch. However...I am self-obligated to state that I am unhappy with how they handled the ending. I won't reveal any specific details, but they essentially had something really important on the verge of happening, and then it just suddenly doesn't, with literally no explaination, and the last episode and a half are just sort of a side plot involving one of the side characters. I just don't understand why they would do this. The entire series was essentially building up to this moment, then it just doesn't happen. It wasn't stopped. It wasn't called off. It was just suddenly ignored, by EVERY character. They just resume their daily lives, as if it never happened. Guess that's pretty much my only grievance. Also, Accelerator has to be one of my favorite anti-heroes in all of anime now. .......... 7/10

36. Strike Witches - This was another one of those animes that I had seen pictures and whatnot of all over the place, but had never seen or knew anything about. I decided to watch it for the first time a few days ago, because it just seemed like one of those that I should put into my knowledge pool and watch. First minute or so, it seemed relatively ok, was a WWII themed anime and whatnot. Then I was bombarded with about 20+ panty shots in about 5 minutes. No, I'm not joking. They did it so much I started keeping count. About 6 minutes in, I lost interest, and stopped watching. I then picked it up again a couple of days later, because well, same reason I picked it up in the first place. Despite the panty shot barrage, the show is actually pretty unique and is decently good. I don't know whether the panty shots stopped coming as often, or if I just stopped paying attention to them, but they seemed to dull down after the first few episodes (don't misunderstand me here, they have numerous shots in every episode, but not quite 20+ every 5 minutes like in the first episode, I don't think.). Okay, so, the show takes place in the WWII era, except WWII never happened, because well, aliens decided to invade at that time. These aliens are called the "Neuroi", and are essentially formless beings that have a somewhat computer mentality. They never communicate, and they look different every time they attack (which is always one at a time, in the form of a black plane covered in octogons and red patches. Yeah, they're pretty cool. Pretty different too, compared to other alien whatnot from other series.). And of course, to combat these Neuroi, are girls known as "Strike Witches", girls able to use magic, and fly around in these leg things called strikers that resemble the bodies of WWII planes. Story is centered around a girl named Yoshika, who is brought into the 501st Strike Force as a new recruit, due to her naturally strong ability to use magic, which mainly focuses around strong healing magic and shield generation. Whenever the girls use magic, they sprout animal ears and tail, for some unknown and never explained reason. May point out that it takes place in an alternate universe (as if that weren't obvious enough), I mean this in that the countries aren't named the same, but are relatively similar. For example, some of the countries are Fuso, Romagna, Orussia, and Liberion. These represent Japan, Rome, Russia, and the US, but with a few differences. Like I said before, the show is actually pretty good, and original. It's not the best in the world, but it is indeed good. I may also note that they had a large amount of nudity as well, but I watched the censored version apparently, so I just got an eyefull of bright light about once every other episode. The show is good, but has a metric shit ton of fanservice. Though, I may add that they don't really step out of their bounds with it. Elfen Lied for example, felt like they were sort of pushing it on the viewer, but with Strike Witches, it just sort of blends in. You'd see what I mean if you watched it. I may also add that it is made by Gonzo, so that should have been a clear indication before I even started watching it that it was going to be full of nudity and fanservice. Although, it was far more light hearted than their other works that I know of. So yeah, good show, now bad, good plot, originality. .....6/10

I feel this image sums the series up pretty well:

37. Nisemonogatari - I had an obligation to watch it, since I saw the first one (Bakemonogatari). I don't actually know how new this one is, but I suspect it was around at the same time I finished the first one, but due to the difference in the titles, I hadn't known about it. Nonetheless, I found it, found out there's yet another one on the way (Nekomonogatari), and watched this one. Just like the first one, this one was filled with weird random crap that, while it fit decently, seemed to pop up without reason every few seconds (ie: a red screen with the word "red" on it, or a miscillaneous image). I'm not saying I don't like it, but I'm not saying I find it particularly enjoyable either. More of a, positive end of the neutral spectrum thing. This time around, the story, yet again (naturally), focuses on Araragi, a highschool guy who is part vampire, albeit is no longer an official full-blooded one. Like the first, he sort of helps people with paranormal problems. However, in this one, his 'boss' of sorts, is no longer around, so he doesn't really help anyone other than his two sisters, who are each afflicted by some spirit, of which this particular season, in entirety, focuses around. This one has much less of a plot than the first, but I feel it was executed better. I think part of the reason why I liked this one more, is because they opted to not include that bitch Senjougahara through most of it. I realize that she's just finding odd ways to express her feelings, but I seriously want to strangle her. Much more than most anime characters I dislike. I was also glad to see that they included more of Shinobu, a character that I said I liked in the review of the first season. She actually plays a more significant role in this one, and actually speaks this time, thankfully. Honestly, I thought it was decent, but like the first one, it has some unknown thing that keeps me from giving it a particularly high rating. Maybe it's the lack of plot, or perhaps it's the execution of the series, I'm not sure. All in all, I liked this one. It's not SUPER GREAT, but it's a decent watch, I'd say. ....... 6/10

38. Eureka Seven - This one had been on my to-watch list for quite some time, but well, I was putting it off due to its length. I decided to go ahead and watch it. First and foremost, I'd like to say that this series was pretty damn good. And I don't mean "pretty" good, I mean "DAMN" good. One of those little gems that you don't really hear too much about that just blows at least half of all other anime in existence out of the water. It is not without its imperfections, but it is very good, even with them. Story focuses around a young boy of about 14 years old named Renton Thurston, who is an aspiring mechanic living with his grandfather, also a mechanic. One day, a mysterious girl named Eureka, piloting a special LFO (Light Finding Operations, giant robot that surfs on certain light particles in the air called Trapar waves) called Nirvash (the oldest model in the world) lands on their garage, destroying it. He is told by his grandfather that he has something called the Amita drive that his deceased world-saving father left for him, that he needs to attach to this LFO's power core (Compac Drive, power source used for pretty much everything) for certain reasons unknown, and that he has to take care of/maintain/ watch over it. He and the girl end up getting along to a degree, and he gets a crush on her. He decides to go with her, and finds out that her base of operations is the Gekko State ship, a ship run by radical, anti-government people (who also publish their own magazine named Ray=Out). That's all within pretty much the first episode or two. Story developes over time with their cause, the relationship between Renton and Eureka, and the Nirvash. The story is pretty deep, and they put a lot of focus on the characters and such. All of the characters are pretty original, and the plot, while actually very similar to a direct cross between Evangelion, Code Geass, and Xam'd, also feels very original and well thought out. Nice things said, I do have a few grievances. First off, the ending, while touching, is also a little irritating to me. It just doesn't really feel right, I suppose. That, and a host of other smallish things were a little meh to me, but the series as a whole was really good and full of dem feels. Seriously, I had more feels from this than most other anime. Though I also feel obligated to say that on numerous occasions, I felt the need to punch Holland (the Gekko State's captain) because of his retarded crap, though he fixes his ways toward the end and becomes a cool guy. Errrrh, so much to say but not enough space, and I don't want to spoil things. I liked Anemone, Renton is a whiny character but you sort of don't mind it, Charles and Ray <3, and a host of other things I could say but won't. And of course, same as Trigun, I am sad that it ended. Great characters, great plot, great combat, great love stories, great drama, great everything. For an absolutely wonderful anime of noteworthy proportion ........ 8.5/10

39. Eureka Seven: Astral Ocean - I was rather excited when I heard that Eureka Seven actually had a second season, because frankly, I enjoyed the shit out of Eureka Seven. After having watched Astral Ocean, however, I honestly think the biggest thing that stands out about it, is disappointment. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad. It just didn't live up to Eureka Seven's glory. At all. It lacked a lot of what Eureka Seven had, despite following the same -general- path. Boy goes on ship, pilots unique giant robot. Anyway, on to the actual review I suppose. It focuses on Ao, the son of Eureka and Renton, and his life on Earth. Without spoiling much, I can say that it takes place 10,000 years before Eureka and Renton were born, in the year 2020, and there are now these strange polygon-esque giant monster robot things that are suddenly appearing whenever Scub coral appears to destroy it. The story has to do with alternate timelines, space-time travel, alternate realities, and all that stuff. I was confused as hell for the first half of the series, but they clear it up toward the end and explain it. Except they then drop another "wft" bombshell and don't explain it, a couple times, before the series ends. While it was a good watch, it just wasn't savory. They keep dropping hints that it's going to be romantic or something like in the first series, but then it never happens, along with other things. It was good, but it may have been better if they did an OVA for the first series instead of making a new one that involves none of the original cast, save for a few cameos by Eureka and Renton. A lot to say about this, yet surprisingly not much at the same time. Guess I should also point out that it really irritated me when they suddenly pulled the thing with alternate timelines. As a story thing, it's fine, but like 3/4 through the series, they suddenly change reality and everything that happened up to that point is pretty much void, save for the most general of details. Kind of ruined it a bit. I may also say that the first one was full of feels. Astral Ocean had virtually no feels, save for one or two parts involving Eureka and Renton, namely toward the end. That's kind of bad, if the only feels you get from a show are from a cameo by the last series' main characters. Overall, it was good as a stand alone series, but not as a sequel ....... 6/10
Main Cast:

40. Mitsudomoe - I went into watching the series not thinking it would really be all that great. Before the first episode ended, however, I could tell it would be a good series. And I was right. The series is a little short, being two seasons, one 13 episodes, and one 8 episodes long. It focuses around three sisters, the Marui triplets, and their life/adventures in middle school. Mitsuba, is a slightly pudgy, slightly manipulative sadist. Futaba, is clueless, ever-optimistic, and very strong. And, the last one, Hitoha, is quiet, smart, and scary. All of the characters are slightly chibified. I was actually very surprised that the series was not in fact an ecchi, considering the sheer number of sexual jokes and situations...though I suppose I'd say I may respect it more for 'holding back' on that note. overall, the show was really pretty good, even without a serious plot. Let's see...details... their teacher, Yabecchi, is seen as a pervert on multiple occasions from the faculty, due to misunderstandings. The girls' father keeps being arrested whenever he tries to attend school events because people think he's a pedophile trying to kidnap children (though he isn't). The show is really light-hearted, fun, and comedic. I don't really have much else to say about it, since it didn't have much of a plot, as I said. It was just a good watch overall, better than most anime. I do indeed recommend this series........ 6.5/10

41. Highschool of the Dead - Having known about this series for some time, I knew it was inevitable that I would watch it, even though it did not catch my interest much if at all. The anime revolves around a small group of highschool students during a zombie apocalypse. You have your overweight nerd that's good with guns, your spoiled bratty rich smart girl, your sword master chick, and your more or less leader style main character, along with his ex girlfriend. Ah, but there's also the very busty ditz school nurse that goes with them. And well, unlike the title suggests, it doesn't actually take place in a highschool, other than the first episode or two. Fun times inevitable. The series was kind of mediocre to me, with nothing really sticking out. It was a typical zombie series, honestly. Fan service and whatnot to be had. Don't have much to say. ........ 5.5/10

Main cast:

42. Natsuyuki Rendezvous - I caught this one on the list of free on-demand anime I get on tv, and happened to watch it. I don't usually do romance shows, don't really know why actually, since I like them just as much as any other, but I suppose you can say this is my first review of a specifically romance anime. A young man named Hazuki passes by a particular flower shop every day. He has taken on quite the crush on the shop's owner, a middle-aged woman with short black hair, named Rokka. Hazuki makes an effort to buy a flower or plant from the shop almost every day, just so he can see her. Though he never says anything to her. One day, he decides to get a job at the shop, in an effort to get closer to his crush. It isn't until after he begins working there, that he realizes that he can not only see, but also speak to the ghost of her dead husband, who inhabits, and is confined to, the flower shop and Rokka's home (which is upstairs of the shop). Hazuki tries his best to win over Rokka, all the while Shimao, her deceased husband, tries to stop him, despite his inability to touch Hazuki, or anyone for that matter, and his inability to be perceived by anyone but Hazuki. The show is pretty touching and is full of feels. I'm glad I found it, and I do hope someone else may also watch it, as it is only 11 episodes long, and is certainly good. As usual, with some animes, I found that the opening and ending sequences grew on me, and are also full of them feels now. I also sort of feel like adding that the show really only revolves around four people, Hazuki, Rokka, Shimao, and Shimao's sister. Not really relevant, but I felt like pointing it out. Overall, the show was good, and I'm glad I watched it. Them feels. ......... 6.75/10

43. Needless - Behold, yet another anime I started watching at one point long ago but never finished. Unlike the other one however, I didn't not-finish this one because I didn't become interested in it, but rather because I just simply didn't get back to it. This anime is kind of what you would get if you took Gurren Lagann, removed the robots and beastmen, made it take place in the modern world, and added super powers. It bears a decent similarity in both style and comedy. NEEDLESS to say, it has a very nice blend of seriousness and humor at all times throughout, which makes it just simply fun to watch. While it pretty much lacks the feels I love, it does not lack entertainment. So, story. The show vaguely focuses on a young boy named Cruz Schild, a resistance member living in a place called the "Black Spot", an area that was bombed profusely during world war 3 (in Japan) due to Japan developing new technologies and so forth that were a threat to the rest of the world. One of which, is super powers. Each individual who has a super power, only has one. These powers are called "Fragments". Cruz is seperated from his sister, also a resistance member (they are resisting against a company called Simeon, which is located in the center of the Black Spot area), and is found by a priest named Adam Blade. Blade saves Cruz's life, and takes him to meet his partners, Gido, an old man who is a former scientist, and Eve, who has the power to assume any form. The story develops from there, with the group gaining new allies and eventually setting out to face Simeon. Eve always gets people's names wrong, the priest doesn't really care about religion, and Cruz is basically a siscon. You can only imagine where this leads. So, I leave it there, without spoiling too much. It's a good show. Good for action, comedy, and well, fan service technically speaking. I give it a........... 7/10

44. Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 - This was one I happened to see on tv through my provider's free on-demand thing. Watched the first episode like I usually do, as they don't really provide more than that. The show was indeed better than expected. The story focuses around Mirai, a middle school girl, and her brother Yuki, who is in gradeschool. One day, Yuki decides he wants to see an exibit all the way across the city on robots. Their mother makes Mirai take them, much to Mirai's dissatisfaction. Once the two are done at the exibit, Mirai goes by herself out to the outside area, and is just cursing to herself how much she hates her life, when an earth quake hits, destroying nearly everything. The plot proceeds from there with them trying to get home, and meeting a nice young lady along the way who helps them, named Mari. The show is 11 episodes long, and has a decent amount of feels. I think the main thing going for it is its realism, which I liked. The ending was actually rather unexpected, but I rather liked it. Many feels. The ending alone bumped my scored of it up by half a point. I'd suggest giving it a watch if you have the time. .... 6.5/10

Yuki, Mari, and Mirai:

45. Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica - One of those series where I had prior knowledge of a character due to seeing them in pictures online, or in this case, a video on youtube (Mami Tomoe, the blonde girl in the reference images). This anime is written by an individual who specializes in making dramatic/dark series, of whom which decided to try to make a 'magical girl' series. This anime being the result. This is another one of those where I can't say much without spoiling a lot of it, so sorry, but, minimal information. A young girl named Madoka happens across a strange, white, cat/fox like creature that is being chased by a black haired girl who is seemingly trying to kill it. Madoka protects it, and the black haired girl leaves them alone. She learns that this creature, named Kyubey, can speak to her via thought, and offers her a contract. The contract, is that this creature will grant her any wish she desires, but at the cost of her becoming a magical girl, who must fight evil witches for Kyubey. That's all you get. Honestly, I was expecting silly, happy, and just overall general chibi anime adventures, but was instead greeted with a series that is kind of dark as fuck, and lacks all silly, happy, and chibi adventures. It's dark, dramatic, and is decent on dem feels. I enjoyed it, as it was a good watch, and would suggest also watching it if you think you'd like such a thing. ..... 6/10

Main cast:

(these are not in any order, I just numbered them so I/you know how many I've seen)

Anime movies I've seen that aren't related to movies of series I've seen:

1. Deadspace: Downfall - it was shit. Sorry, it just was.

2. Halo: Legends - it was kind of trashy, again, sorry, just was.

3. Sky Crawlers - FUCK no. It was boring, slow, and uneventful. It was based on a book, and I can honestly say that I think the book would be much better than THAT.

4. Straight Jacket - It was ok...odd like all anime is, naturally.

5. Interstella 5555 - I think it was pretty good actually. For a movie where nobody talks, and it's basically nothing more than a super-long music video that has a story, it was preeetty good. Daft Punk did the music, fyi.

6. Bleach: Memories of Nobody - don't remember much about it, but it seems like it was good

7. Spirited Away - It was good, but I can't remember much

8. Ponyo - meh...it was ok, but...kinda meh...just, meh.

9. Pokemon movies...1, 2, maybe 3, 4, 5, I don't remember... - either way, it's pokemon, therefore, it's whatever.

10. The Digimon movie - twas good, but damn it's been a long time.

11. Dead Space: Aftermath - You know, I really thought the first one was bad, but comparatively, I think it was good after seeing this movie. I mean FUCK. Where do I begin?! The movie consists of a series of flashbacks, all happening around a main plot point where these people are rescued from this space craft. Problem #1: The animation for the main part is BALLS. Not little balls, big balls. It reminds me of a children's cartoon that used to be on cartoon network. Problem #2: It was CG in this part. The people and environments were computer generated 3-dimensional images. YOU DON'T DO THAT IF YOU CAN'T DO IT WELL. Problem #3: The lasers on the rescue team's guns were red. If you played the game, you'd know why this is silly. A red laser indicates that the gun has no ammo, and cannot fire, whereas a blue laser indicates that you have ammo. ALL OF THE WEAPONS ARE LIKE THAT. Problem #5: When this guy was hit with a stun baton, it made his eyes and mouth glow. Bullshit.
Now, this next part was actually a relief, and made me happy. All of the flashbacks were done in anime-style, meaning that they weren't that crappy CG garbage, they actually looked pretty nice. Which brings me to problem #6: EVERY DAMN FLASHBACK WAS DONE BY A DIFFERENT PERSON. Seriously, every flashback had different animations. Is this bad, normally? No, not at all...but it IS bad in this case, because whenever one flashback would include a part from another flashback, everything was different. The suits, the rooms, the shape of the guns, this guy's mechanical arm was different, everything. Problem #7: Boobs. When a certain animation style came up, I immediately recognized it as one that tends to include nudity (because every one I've seen with this style has had nudity in some way) then bam, boobs. You don't put boobs in anything relating to Dead Space, that just kills it. It's a freaking zombie survival series ffs.

And my final problem with the movie, problem #8: The necromorphs don't look like they're supposed to. They actually look quite silly and just outragious compared to the MORE REALISTIC ones in the game.

Final note: This movie was crap. I liked some of the insights it shared about the Dead Space universe, but I'm not even a big enough fan to care much. It was trash, but there were a couple of decent moments in it.

13. Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within - Forgot to add this one. Good movie. Really different from the games as far as I know, since I don't really play the games but have seen a decent amount of gameplay. If you haven't seen it, you should. It may be old, but it has some really good CGI.

14. Trigun: Badlands Rumble - This movie was made several years after the series was finished, but retains a lot of the humor and style of the original series. I find it a little odd that Wolfwood returns, without any sort of explaination, but yeah. It takes place after the series.

15. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: Gurren-Hen, Lagann-Hen - These are a pair of movies that are basically a wrap-up of the series, made shorter, with additional scenes and new music. I don't know if I just forgot how much I enjoyed Gurren Lagann, or if maybe my tastes have changed over time, I'm not sure, but I really enjoyed watching this, even though it was just a shortened version of the series. I may even go as far as to say that I may re-watch the entire series soon. Crazy good with a ton of epic moments and feels. I can honestly say that this is one of the only shows, if not the only show, to leave a smile on my face several minutes after I finished watching it, it's just that good. If you haven't seen Gurren Lagann, you should watch it. And well, if you don't have the time, then watch the two movies. It won't make as much sense as the series, but it's still good. If I re-reviewed the series, I'd likely bump it up to a 7 or 8 as opposed to 6.

Also, as a final note, Gurren Lagann may very well be the very definition of "awesome".

16. Eureka Seven: Good Night, Sleep Tight, Young Lovers - Also titled "Pocket Full of Rainbows". This movie is essentially a re-imagining of the original Eureka Seven series, with an alternate universe and alternate storyline. They recycle a lot of scenes and animations, but the story is entirely different, for the most part. Renton is still aboard the Gekko, and all that, but the reasons and outcomes are all different. For example, Renton is now a soldier, and Eureka was a childhood friend. Anemone is now an old woman, and Dominic used to be Renton's professor. Stuff like that. This movie had feels, but I don't really care for the story. The ending was also a little questionable. It was an ok watch, but eh, I prefer the original story MUCH more.

17. Dimension Bomb - a short film by Genius Party. It was pretty confusing, and I watched it without translations, so it was even more confusing...however, people didn't speak much, and it didn't seem very important when they did, so I wasn't too concerned. It feels more like eye candy than it is any substantial plot or the like, as it's pretty much just a lot of odd scenes involving some relatively good animation and work. It's only 20 minutes long, so I'd say just go have a look yourself, it's on youtube.

I've seen almost all of Cowboy Bebop, but stopped watching somewhere near the end for some reason. Dunno where I actually left off.

Trigun I might look into soon, as I've seen and liked a few episodes.

Samurai Champloo......meh.

I like it since I just looove mindless violence, the sheer bouts of badassery, the sickass beats and Japanese hip hop.

I saw Sky Crawlers too!!! That was probably the most boring movie I have seen in my entire life. Everything you said is true -_-

The first three Pokémon movies were awesome, then they just became repetitive. The Digimon movie was amazing, and hilarious. I'm a huge Daft Punk fan so I liked Interstella 5555, and Spirited Away was interesting. I thought it was cool.

NOW WATCH EUREKA SEVEN!!! XD (Also has a movie, by the way.)

So apparently there's another season to Gantz, along with two live action movies. Guess I'll have to watch that now.

Shit, I feel so repressed and shielded by american animated programming....

Bleach; Naruto; Dragonball / DB:Z / DB:GT; Cowboy Bebop; Death Note; Inuyasha; Code Geass

That about it. I've seen a good chunk of plenty more that I enjoyed [for example, Full Metal, Wolf's Rain, Blood+, MD Geist, etc.] but the before mentioned are the only anime that I've seen enough Ep's and/or movies to be able to say "Hey, I watched these Anime."

It's time to do some shopping... *scrolls back up to TS's list and jots down a few notes*

[Come to think of it, everyone of mine ran in their entirety on Adult Swim or CN at one time or another; ouch.]

Three good sites for anime:
-Manga.Com (Good quality and minimal advertisements on most videos, but they come in at the worst times.)
-GoGoAnime (Full of fansubs but they're not too bad.)
-AnimeCrazy (Mostly CrunchyRoll and Megavideo... It's annoying.)

Gogoanime has everything Animefreak.tv has and more, so I excluded it.
